Reconnect Sessions

March 2, 2008

Dear Fire Lookout Host:

Wow!  Can you believe that the 2008 season is almost here?  Are you excited to get back up to your lookout(s) for another exciting season?  We hope so!

As you know, the 2007 season proved to be very challenging due to the drought and the bark beetle infestation.  Like all of the previous seasons the volunteers (YOU) have played a major part in fire detection. This year will be no exception, below are the dates for reconnect and the locations.

All returning Lookout Hosts need to take the 3-hour RECONNECT class in the spring.  We have several dates and places for you to take the classes.  Pam and I find representing the Forest Service a true privilege and we hope that you find this kind of volunteer work as rewarding as we do.  We all look forward to seeing you again!

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me on my cell phone at (909) 225-1025 or email us at pammorey@fs.fed.us

Share with your friends!  New Volunteer training dates are also posted on our website at: sbnfa.org and then choose Fire Lookouts.

This season we will be having the Fire Lookout T-Shirts for sale at all reconnects; as always they will cost $10.00 each and this year they are a deep red (Maroon) with a chest pocket.

To all of our returning Lookout Hosts - Thank you!
For those returning next year you'll receive a letter in the early spring with the 2008 Reconnect training dates.

If you were in the program last season and not able to make Reconnect this year, please contact the Lookout Coordinator to be placed on the training list for next season. Thank you.

Reconnect sessions are only for returning Lookout Volunteers who have received by mail, notification to attend the Reconnect Sessions. For those former volunteers who are interested in the program, or those who did not work sufficient hours last year, you will need to attend the regular training sessions. If you have any questions contact the George Morey at (909) 225-1025.
